School summer holidays are almost upon us which, as all parents know, can cost a small fortune. But thankfully, many benefits will be paid early in the upcoming months. Why are benefits being paid early? Universal Credit, Child Benefit and other benefits claimants will receive early payment over the summer due to the upcoming bank holiday.
This is the August bank holiday which occurs on Monday 26 August 2024. Every time your benefit payment date lands on a bank holiday, this will, instead, be paid on the previous working day.Who will this affect? This will affect those who receive the following DWP and HMRC benefits:When will I be paid? If you're expecting payment on Monday 26 August 2024, you will instead be paid on Friday, 23 August – the working day before.
My payment is due earlier in the month – does this affect me? If you claim one of the above benefits but are due a payment on a date other than Monday 26 August, this change won't affect you. Will I be paid less? You will be paid the usual amount, despite the shorter gap between your July payment and this one.
But be careful, as this payment will have to last you slightly longer until your next payment in September.
