Christian Assembly Church worked with RIP Medical Debt to map out the active households that call the church home. In those 28 neighborhoods, there was $5.3 million worth of outstanding medical debt. RIP Medical Debt is a non-profit organization that buys medical debt at a steep discount and then sells it to entities like the church. So, the church decided to purchase the $5.3 million debt as a Christmas gift.
"But not only that, we will work with the credit agencies to repair their credit score for the impact of these unpaid medical bills," he said.Read MoreHughes said that this"crushing" debt was a burden to families that earn less than twice the federal poverty line in the 28 neighborhoods. The debt affects 5,555 households in the Los Angeles area. The church is in Eagle Rock, a neighborhood northeast of downtown Los Angeles.

An excellent way to spend this money. But why would any church have this kind of cash? Because it isn't being taxed as it should. And because naive hopefuls are still trying to buy their way into a heaven that doesn't exist.
For what other reason do churches take in donations? Isn't it their sacred duty to feed the poor and help heal the sick? That is what Jesus taught, so why aren't more churches, like Falwell's, Graham's, the Mormons, Catholic Church, etc. doing with ALL the millions they take in?

I want to see the details on this. Like who got the money and did they have ties to the church. I'm saying this because I assume, with that much money, they are a Mega Church. I don't trust Mega churches. They are usually a lot more concerned about money than helping people.
