In a media briefing on moratorium issue here, the officials said they regretted the confusion on procedures for the six-month loan moratorium and were trying their best to clear it up. In its announcement on March 25, BNM had already advised borrowers that interest/profit would continue to accrue on deferred payments and they should consider this in deciding whether they wished to take up the moratorium.
This is true. Its Bank who did the U turn. However, I'm not sure if BNM has the authority to instruct Banks to waive the interest.
Only BNM says it , but the real thing is U turn n spin the story.
Was BNM consulted before the announcement by the Minister. If so what was the advice and was it adopted.
This was the MOST insincere, disingenuous initiative ever. It’s like saying, ‘go ahead, stop paying now. We’ll just allow banks to hammer u in the back of the heads b4 the 6 mths ends’! If truly want to help the people, make it a REAL payment holiday!
