Congressional leaders are at odds over whether to continue to suspend monthly payments for tens of millions of Americans with student debt as they pursue talks for the next pandemic-relief package.
In late March, the federal government stopped collecting payments for most of the 43 million Americans with federal student loans while also preventing interest from accruing. The benefit, part of the more than $2 trillion pandemic-relief package known as the Cares Act, expires Sept. 30.

What happens when people no longer think that they have an obligation, both moral and legal, to fulfill a contract? What happens to the landlord, mortgage originator or bank, when they their income stream vanishes and asset essentially confiscated by government fiat?
Cancelling student debt and giving credits to those who have paid would stimulate economy, but Mitch be playing.
