Liberal Senator SenPaterson says the opposition leader’s call to seriously review the lease of the Port of Darwin was insincere and most likely just a “device to attack the government”.

|Liberal Senator James Paterson says the opposition leader’s call to seriously review the lease of the Port of Darwin was insincere and most likely just a “device to attack the government”. “This government has done more than any other to really robustly defend Australia’s sovereignty, national interest, and values,” Mr Paterson told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese on Sunday called on the Morrison government to look at the sale of the port of Darwin to a Chinese company, considering the recently proposed national security legislation. According to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese will push an amendment to move for the cancellation of the $506 million leasing of the Port of Darwin. “I’m not sure he’s sincerely proposing that,” Mr Paterson said.

SenPaterson Did the Minister that brokered the deal to sell the port in Darwin to a Chinese company, then resign and take up a job at that company? FederalICAC auspol

SenPaterson Is this “device to attack the government” because of Gladys has to justify the 98-year part lease of Newcastle port to China Merchants Group worth $1.75 billion? Probably more likely the because the governments responsible are not Labor.

SenPaterson “The lease of the Port of Darwin to a state linked enterprise was a mistake.' Yep. A Liberal party mistake. Morrison only wanted to talk about ALP government items. Backfired.
