Review comes as concerns grow that first-time buyers are being left out of property market during Covid crisis

The Bank of England is exploring options to make it easier to get a mortgage, on the back of concerns that many first-time buyers have been locked out of the property market during the coronavirus pandemic.

I wonder if RIO mortgages (interest-only, with no expectation of paying the rest) will go mainstream, to include under 55s. Leasehold in England & Wales is effectively just renting, anyway, and not everyone is interested in literally owning property, at these prices anyway.

A house market crash would be the biggest beneficiary of affordably owning a home. Houses shouldn’t be commodity, they should be home & a sanctum.
