KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd is offering customers affected by floods a loan moratorium of up to six months.
In a statement today, the bank said the initiative, named the Prihatin Programme, is aimed at easing the financial burden of flood victims who would otherwise have to continue paying their monthly commitments. The moratorium is subject to the conditions set under the bank’s House Financing, Personal Financing and Vehicle Financing facilities.
Chief executive officer Mohd Muazzam Mohamed said the well-being of the communities had always been one of Bank Islam’s priorities, especially with the severe flood situation and Covid-19 pandemic plaguing the country. “We hope this programme can help relieve their anxieties over their financial commitments during this difficult period,” he said, adding that the application for the moratorium can be made at any Bank Islam branch.Subscribe to our newsletter and get news delivered to your mailbox.
