A civil society organisation with deep interest in the country’s democratic growth has taken a swipe at the statement credited to the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, to the effect that appointment of service chiefs was carried out by President Muhammadu Buhari devoid of ethnic consideration.
In a statement by its National Coordinator, Dr Aminu Shettima and National Secretary, Barr. Olufemi Amuda, the group wondered if competence only resides among the geo-political regions that President Buhari had consistently considered for appointments in his administration.
“We view this statement ascribed to him as highly irresponsible, sentimental, and insensitive and an attempt to justify this government’s continuous neglect and hatred for the Igbo Nation, which no doubt, is the third largest tribe in Nigeria.
The CSO said:”We wish to say here without hesitation that continuous alienation of people of Igbo extraction from the scheme of affairs in the administration of President Buhari is confirmation of the deep rooted hatred for the Igbo people by this administration. It is now clear to everyone.
The MBuhari administration has shown a seed of discord that may never be erased in times to come. Todwy, a northerner is President, tomorrow, a Southerner will take over. I urge that same measure be applied. All major appointments to be shared between the south and Middle Belt.
If only all Igbos could walk out on the Armed Forces and mobilise in their respevtive states.
What do you call a country where people from educationally disadvantaged areas are more competent than those from educationally advantaged areas, where someone that scored 15 in Jamb is more competent than the one with 270. Joke! And you say you want make progress and develop.
Mr Garba Sheu your self defense to your boss is appalling. So all these years there are no senior military officers of the Igbo tribe? The selection is biased and unjust. The president has been showing this ethnic stance since he became prsident. You're only speaking for ur belly
This is one question that will never sieze in the lips of Nigeria(ns ) and the Igbo's in particular yet this one question the north does not have answer to and not untill the answer comes this question will be asked more
