The U.S. federal government is giving whole new meaning to the old saying “the check is in the mail.” Once meant as an assurance households gave to ward off encroaching creditors, it has instead become a regular promise of cash for households by Uncle Sam.in the accounts of millions of Americans, $1,400 payments so far sent to roughly 90 million adults totaling about $242 billion.
“There is a lot of liquidity and desire to spend,” says Jonathan Parker, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology economics professor who studies how people spend government checks. He argues the latest round of payments designed by the Biden administration should have been more targeted to those most in need.
Like dolling out the money in a Monopoly game, it will soon be collected by the 1% once again. But in the meanwhile the “game” is being played by all of us for awhile, and speeding up our entire Economy in a big way!
This paltry sum, will probably cover some medical issues, for some people, think about it.
It'll become worthless. Buy metals and cryptocurrencies before USD goes to zero. Paper currency (plague-notes) are almost entirely digital, anyway. Think of your checking account. A few numbers on a screen. Tons of fees, slow as hell. Why do we even use banks?

If there are back taxes owed the IRS is taking it so we can't pay back rent or mortgage. This was supposed to help not hinder Americans. Isn't that why it was called Relief? Trump helped Americans with 1st stimulus ck. IRS couldn't touch.

Americans have saved a lot? That's quite the blanket statement. Yes, in my household we were able to. But I know several others who either got behind on rent/mortgages or just had to move back home with their parents. I've seen many, many For Rent signs in my area, too.

The way you've described the relief funds gives the impression each American received 100k. First off the $1200 & $600 checks have long been spent. I fail to see how the new round of $1,400 is going to overheat the economy.

What will come of the money? Sure, I'll bite: The $1400/person for those who get it will successfully pay them off to look the other way while the majority of the $1.9T goes to cronies and crooks. THAT'S what the $1400 was for. A diversion while the big money went elsewhere.
