In a press conference at Wisma MCA here on Wednesday , MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong"She found an unauthorised transaction on her card for jewellery, amounting to around RM16,593. The purchase was made online to a shop in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 27.
"No one-time-password was given to her for this transaction, and the bank did not call her to confirm the purchase as well," he said. The Johor-based accountant, who wished to be known only as Tan, 34, said she lodged reports to both the police and bank following the discovery."They said that there was nothing wrong with the purchase, and that their system showed an OTP was sent. They are also insisting I pay the bill, with interest," said Tan, who was adamant that her phone and card had never been stolen or lost before.
"But this bank is still insisting she pay. We will monitor the situation, and see if any legal action should be taken going forward," he said.
