Ex-Gov Yari's administration auctioned over one billion asset to pay N60m debt - Zamfara Govt

The Zamfara State Government has revealed that it inherited over fifty billion naira as a liability from former Governor Abdulaziz Yari.

He said that the state is battling with court cases on various debts amounting to over N50 billion naira. The commissioner explained that the debt was largely inherited from the previous governments, pointing out that, “Because government is a continuous process, the present Governor has to find means of paying back the debt and move on with the management of the state.

Kaura lamented that if Yari’s administration had taken the issue of debt repayment seriously, they should have settled the debtors out of court.
