The World Health Organization (WHO) has added Mu, a COVID-19 variant first detected in Colombia, to its list of variants of interest being monitored worldwide. READ:

and released on Wednesday, September 1 , the health body said the Mu variant was found to have a “constellation of mutations” that suggest it could potentially be more resistant to vaccines, but that further study was needed to confirm this.

Cases of Mu, or B.1.6.21, were first identified in Colombia in January this year and have also been reported in countries in South America and Europe.
