Research shows that 3.4 million households - or 6.3 million adults and children - will not be able to pay rising gas and electricity bills this winter without cutting their food spending.

"It's not the right way to save government money, coming on the top of the hike on fuel rises this week."Sparing people destitution and enabling families to both eat and have heat is a very basic investment in our nation's future."

The government has announced a £500m household support fund to help vulnerable families pay for things such as food, clothing, and utilities, but some wonder if it will be enough to make up for the loss of the universal credit uplift. The report by Welfare at a Distance defined food insecurity as being when people's quality and variety of diets were affected by a lack of money, for example, people unable to afford balanced meals.

Says the man who sold our gold reserves

As somebody who prefers to give our money away what would he know about saving it.

It's not a cut,it was given to help thru covid, covid is over,so is the free handouts.

Agreed. Cut MP expenses and make it base salary only for 3 years let's see who is in it for the country or just the money,?

It was a Covid uplift...... now its going....

Go away, fuck all to do with you.

Robbing our pensions is probably easier eh!

What do you know about saving money you left the country bankrupt and the Blairs filled their own pockets through the suffering of the British public.Hypercrits.

There’s people who are working and struggling to pay for bills and look after their children because they just meet outside the threshold to claim UC - you are encouraging people not to work. There’s a high % of people who are choosing not to work compared to those who can’t work

Reduce the House of Lords and cut all expenses and privileges paid for with public money.

Ban all MP expenses. Remove subsidies for drinks and food in Parliament.

Brown, one of the few Labour Members that I still gave respect for! But I think he has got this one wrong! The UC extra,TEMPORARY arrangement was to help during lockdown! Those in receipt were grateful I am sure, but was there any help for pensioners? Did they not deserve help

Says the man who spent all the money, borrowed more and sold off the gold?

Not a cut

The man who gave our gold away for a song is at it again. Loves spending other people's money. He must be Labour.

3.8 million small business owners / sole traders received ZERO covid19 help, and labour party said nothing.. excludedUK (something something not part of the workers struggle)

I agree but as a former chancellor and PM surely you can offer a more positive suggestion than just pointing out what’s wrong?

Blowhard Tory Pundit actually said cutting Univesal credit weekly £20 uplift will 'Trigger economy back to normal' on JeremyVineOn5 Was challenged people are starving, He said nobody starves in Britian but maybe 'hungry' Tories ideology unplugged

Stop the tax loopholes

It's not about saving money. It's about Conservative ideology.
