'It looks unlikely that Congress will address the debt limit before the last minute, and there appears to be a material risk that Congress fails to act by the October 18 deadline,' Goldman Sachs economists wrote in a note.

"It looks unlikely that Congress will address the debt limit before the last minute, and there appears to be a material risk that Congress fails to act by the October 18 deadline," Goldman Sachs economists wrote in in a note. The Wall Street bank added that a"lapse in borrowing authority looks like a real risk," although that lapse would"probably be brief.

Goldman Sachs is not putting much stock in any unilateral actions the Treasury Department could take to address the debt limit, including minting a $1 trillion coin or disregarding the limit by citing the 14th Amendment."It is impossible to rule these or other steps out entirely, but we are skeptical that such moves will come into play this year," the economists said in the report.

Good.

Joe Biden's approval rating today is at 38%. Let that sink in.

Democrat's duties don't end just because Republicans are refusing to do theirs.

If Democrats refuse McConnell's offer then the blame lands squarely on them. They have a chance to raise the debt ceiling temporarily and it will give them enough time for budget reconciliation. If they refuse to take it, it's on them.

What happens when everyone disagrees with everyone around them? Nothing. I would like to see the people I've voted for, doing what I voted for. justsaying

Effort to raise debt limit resets after Senate GOP blocks weeks from defaultHouse Democrats are continuing efforts to raise the debt ceiling in order to avoid the U.S. from defaulting on the national debt. Trump & Trumplicans' aim is to sow the seed of doubt in people's minds so that they slowly begin to distrust almost everything & thru the distrust slowly create a state of chaos & confusion to divert the people's attention away from their intention to tear America apart. When Trump & his supporters only listen to the lies they tell themselves & one another & the lies are the ties that bind them then 'hitting bottom' & only then will they open their eyes to the lies they have told themselves & to others. Lies are their cunning baffling addiction. Strip away Trump's Talibanization of America!

Biden: 'Real possibility' Democrats might change Senate rules for debt hikePresident Joe Biden said on Tuesday that his Democrats might make an exception to a U.S. Senate rule to allow them to extend the government's borrowing authority without Republican help, which could head off an economically crippling debt default. Well, let's see how this gonna end up... Just get it done through reconciliation man! There is no positives here for the Democrats, and the Hell would freeze over before any Republicans help the Democrats pay the bill for the debt they incurred during the last administration! DNC have the ability to raise the debt ceiling alone. But they won't do it. They even delayed it to make republicans vote GOP CAN vote but they don't. Both are delaying the vote. Both are to blame. Both are corp. bailout unpatriotic traitors to the American people SenateFloor

Factbox: How could U.S. Senate Democrats raise the debt limit on their own?The U.S. Congress has about two weeks to raise the federal government's $28.4 trillion debt ceiling or cause a historic default that would take a heavy toll on the economy. You mean the same Democrats who blocked for 4 years, then reversed every legislation the previous government did as soon as getting into Office? Set a good precedent didn't they. Do they think everyone has forgotten?
