Of late, there has been a global interest in Non Fungible Tokens in the art scene. NFTs are digital assets that represent real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos. They are bought and sold online, frequently with cryptocurrency, and they are generally encoded with the same underlying software as many cryptocurrencies.
At this year’s Art X Lagos, in addition to the traditional art experience, organisers partnered with Superrare, a digital marketplace that trades NFTs, showcasing art on screens and giving patrons opportunity to witness art like never before. On his experience at the fair, Okeowo said: “It was very good, the reception was great especially for an art fair that is primarily traditional. The feedback was great as well, people showed up, they asked questions; kids stopped by to ask questions, we had top CEO’s and curators stop by wanting to know more about NFTs.
