The IT system known as Horizon was introduced in 1999 and gave incorrect figures leading to convictions for false accounting and theft. The Post Office says it’s doing all it can to address the human cost of what happened but all these years on and many still haven’t received compensation yet.

Anja_Popp How come, no one in the Post Office was suspicious of the sudden rise in 'embezzlement' by postmasters and all saying 'I didn't do it'. No one thought this is so unusual, let's investigate before prosecution. Major incompetence causing major pain. Need consequences for this.

Anja_Popp Shameful behaviour from the Post Office that this hasn't started before. No one should ever have been prosecuted. The software should never have been used. Poor people. Some have died because of it. And lives ruined. 😢
