Rutgers associate head coach Brandin Knight is staying in Piscataway amid interest from Saint Peter's to name him its head coach.

If Knight wants to leave Piscataway during the life of this new contract, there is not much of a barrier to keep him in Piscataway. He would need to pay a buyout of $50,000 if he were to leave Rutgers for “another Power 5 Assistant Coaching position,” per the contract. There is no buyout listed in the contract if Knight were to leave for a head coaching position.

Knight also received a significant upgrade in his annual performance incentives. They are as follows:- Conference regular season title : $10,000 - NCAA Tournament regional round appearance: $10,000 - NCAA Tournament national semifinal win $20,000 Knight is a member of Pikiell’s original coaching staff at Rutgers, joining him in Piscataway in April of 2016 ahead of the 2016-17 season.

His previous coaching experience prior includes a 10-year run at Pitt beginning in 2006. He was a point guard for the Panthers from 1999 to 2003. Knight, a native of East Orange, N.J., has advanced to 11 NCAA Tournaments as either a staffer or student-athlete , including four Sweet 16 appearances.Brian Fonseca may be reached atNote to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
