Spedding, once a person of interest in the William Tyrrell investigation, was charged in 2015 with sex offences police had declined to pursue in 1987.

A former person of interest in William Tyrrell’s disappearance was charged with unrelated historical child sex offences, which had previously been examined and not pursued, because police believed he snatched the toddler and wanted to punish him, a court has heard.

During the investigation Spedding was publicly arrested, had his home and office searched in January 2015, participated in a “gruelling” six-hour interview, and was charged in April 2015 with the historical sexual assault of two children, which he was later acquitted of. Canceri said the allegations were initially investigated by police in 1987 and no charges were laid, however they were revived by Strike Force Rosann because the officers “very strongly” believed Spedding had abducted Tyrrell.“The evidence will overwhelmingly demonstrate that the criminal proceedings were used as a vehicle to further the investigation of the plaintiff as a suspect in the disappearance of William Tyrrell, and to punish him for his suspected involvement,” Canceri said in court.

From 2.25pm to 8.33pm, Spedding was subject to questioning, as well as accusations from the police which included: “We believe you may have grabbed William from the front yard of that address; you may have left that area without anyone knowing”.Bill Spedding is arrested by detectives on April 22, 2015.

The barrister claimed the criminal proceedings against Spedding “portrayed him as a paedophile” and strengthened the incorrect public perception that he had abducted William.

The New South Wales police need a shake up from top to bottom and our previous corrupt police commissioner mick Fuller needs to face punishment for his crimes of corruption. He ran a protection racket for the LNP, locked people up and threatened them with legal action.

Gary Jubelin was a law unto himself. Illegal recordings, charging people to get confessions for seperate crimes. Little wonder he was removed.
