The court of appeal sitting in Abuja has ordered a stay of contempt proceedings initiated by Jimoh Ibrahim, a Nigerian businessman, against the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria .

The court based its decision on the grounds that the defendants evaded personal service of the contempt proceedings. “With that ruling, barrister Jimoh Ibrahim and Co have been again neutralized from executing the said contempt proceedings order, which he obtained under questionable circumstances. “As a responsible debt recovery agency of the federal government of Nigeria, AMCON approached the federal high court in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/760/2021 to seek justice, and accordingly received an order of the trial court to take over the businesses of Jimoh Ibrahim.
