It should be noted no one’s stopping kids who enjoy soccer, dance, drawing or computer programming from pursuing those interests through classes and extracurriculars offered at most public schools. Of course, every student should have the chance to experience and learn the arts, sports and STEM skills. The TDSB should make every effort to ensure local schools not only offer these opportunities, but offer quality instruction.
SabrinaMaddeaux I think there is no option BUT to scrap the “audition”process. Specialized schools weed out poverty and disability more than they produce Gretzky and Mozart. TDSB’s mission is to serve all of its students, not just a handful who’s parents are well resourced.

I challenge anyone to walk past a school parking lot and find a teacher who drive an old late model car. Hard to do because teachers are paid so well they never have to drive old cars. The teachers class has been at the forefront of every pay raise of last 30yrs.

No fake fairness
My children attended public schools that were quite good which set them on a successful future path. Concerned about the direction of public education my wife suggested setting aside monies to help send our grandkids to private schools. More articles like this are convincing me.
Wokeness kills independent thinking and ideas. The exact opposite of what kids should be learning.
