TOKYO : U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Tuesday China's lack of cooperation on debt restructuring for low-income countries has been"quite frustrating" and Washington has discussed the issue with Beijing several times.
Yellen told reporters that China had many different agencies that had made loans in developing countries and there was little, if any, coordination by senior Chinese government officials to ensure their participation in debt restructuring. "We found it quite frustrating to try to get their cooperation in doing debt restructuring. It's something that we've discussed with the Chinese on several occasions," she said."And certainly it's been a topic of discussion with the IMF and with the G20 and the G7."
