BREAKING Rogers Communications says it will credit its customers for five days of service following its massive network outage last week.

Rogers Communications says it will credit its customers for five days of service following its massive network outage last week that affected cellular and internet service for millions of Canadians.

"We have been listening to our customers and Canadians from across the country who have told us how significant the impacts of the outage were for them," Chloe Luciani-Girouard, a spokeswoman for Rogers Communications, said in an email to CBC News. "We know that we need to earn back their trust, and as a first step, we will be crediting our customers with the equivalent of five days service. We will continue to work around the clock to restore Canadians' confidence in us."Mark Gollom is a Toronto-based reporter with CBC News. He covers Canadian and U.S. politics and current affairs.

Business what about the rest of us who were seriously inconvenienced, and are not with Rogers?

Business I'd bet 5 days worth of credit that Rogers will jack up prices to in the coming months to make up for the losses.

Fido customers too?

Rogers now offering 5 days credit. Oops the Montreal Law firm CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT claim of $400 rebate made them NERVOUS

Bell service was still worse than this, has been for the passed 6 months

and how about noncustomers that had their phones cut off, due to Rogers huge blunder ?

🤣

So do I get a credit for each phone on my plan? I have 3 phones? My contract is up this fall, I will probably switch. Been with Roger's for 17 years. This credit almost comical .

What about those of us who are not Rogers’ customers but were affected

How about a credit on spying on people as well at the behest of Turdo!

Without real competition, these cartel owners will NEVER give Canadians anything back. They will still operate and CRTC which is one of the most corrupted organizations in Canada will continue to legitimize them. The smell of bribes is disgusting and Canadians are fed up !

They should have their liscences granted revoked. This is not their 1st or 2nd or 3rd outage yet Bell's perfect record was what Rogers claimed they would improve .. Like Ted Rogers did with Chantel, he either lied or failed to deliver. Time to pull liscences !

So excited for my $16 credit

Oooo... $15 whole dollars.

So, that's about $5

'We will proactively credit your account for Friday’s outage. This credit will be automatically applied and no action is required from you. [...] We let you down on Friday. You have my personal commitment that we will do better.' TonySTAFFIERI Rogers

🤔🤭😆😂🤣FUNNY NOT FUNNY🧐🤨🤬

My iPhone is a company phone so I doubt I will get anything…but Rogers disrupted my access to my TD account, couldn’t use my debit nor get cash. How do we get compensated.

Wow.. big important news from CBCNews . Duh!!

Not a Rogers customer, couldn’t pay for anything for 2 days. This goes way deeper than your subscribers

LAME

Seems like they are trying to hide the fact that all of your personal information was stolen during the hack.

And people were concerned about Huawei. 😂😂😂

The outage occurred on a Friday which is a business day and also when many people visit restaurants or bars after the work week. Some businesses were out thousands—a five-day credit hardly cuts it. 🙄

So if your monthly bill is $200, you’ll get 1/6th of that or $33.33 . Wowsers.

Lol 5 days worth of service as a credit and as soon as that happens expect another substantial price increase to your services to cover it. Although they aren’t stupid, it will come a little later on so you don’t suspect it. Truly sad what this company has become.

What about loss of production for the day?

Based on my monthly bill, that will be less than $20.... not much for several days of inconvenience.

Five days!? Lol!

We don’t need more crumbs. We need to have the real conversation and eliminate for once this monopolistic model. Enough is enough.

Yeah, no. Not good enough. A working day's lost wages will vary from household to household, plus backup time, plus uncompensated 'holiday' for contract workers, etc and so on.

Now do cheaper service monthly, like every other country in the world

What about those who are not with Rogers and who were horrendously inconvenienced. Millions spent SKY HIGH PRICES on gas to get money to family members who were in need, in Sweltering heat. Are any NDP BlocQuebecois liberal_party CPC_HQ CanadianGreens speaking for them?

Rogers Fidomobile So cheap, these companies do not know value for people's official hours. 5 days bill credit will be less than $5 for $25 basic plan

That is $9.20 for me. It would be $28.95 if I had net thru Rogers, which if Shaw merges I will... Good thing I wasn't depending on large financial transactions that day.

So, the millions that aren't Rogers customers will be getting reimbursed by the CRTC?

Fake news network

Oh my God, it must be the massive amount of CBC tweets causing all the 5G towers to spontaneously combust!

Yes 5 days refund of $3.45 😆

5 days what’s the integrity on this situation?

😂 $16 I think inconvenience, health and frustration is worth mor than $16 What about all Canadians? I couldn’t access money, debit, e-transfers, visa Rogers

I should invest in bitcoin. lol

It better be 5 day credits across all service lines (mobile, tv cable and internet).

That's adding a big ass insult to a big ass injury. It's a mockery. But the real question is, what would be an acceptable compensation for the outage?

Maybe John Tory can recommend a negative option solution.😜

Next bill will have a reoccurring monthly 'outage insurance' surcharge I expect.

Lol, 5 days!!!

What about next year when same thing happens again! since Rogers doesn't have any Disaster Recovery Plan(DRP), even though Rogers is telling its business customers to avoid 'Damaging downtime'

Big deal

Five days. I think I'll go to the movies. By myself.

Funny company

Then why did one member receive a full bill today?

This is what actually happened

What about the customers who still don’t have mobile services, like me..?

RogersHelps how about taking some of that 1.56 billions in profits form last year to help out your customers instead of this insult. So glad I switch!

Should be a whole month!!

Rogers should have to credit every citizen of Canada. That mess affected every one of us whether we were customers or not. Those of us who know better than to consciously give Rogers money had zero choice in all the other things that went down with the ship that day.

Don’t forget this…

well, RogersFR, 5 days over one year scale, is like a 1,3% credit… B R A V O !

well, RogersFR, 5 days on a year scale, is like a 1,3% credit… B R A V O !

Keep your 4 bucks rogers, what an insult

This is how much Rogers thinks of their customers… not very much! 😡

Good for them. I am self employed and my biggest client was affected, so in the end I lost around 500$ last Friday. I guess people with that problem will fall through the cracks.

I know this includer mobile service and internet. Hopefully this includes their cable TV service as many of the channels I watch were not available. Rogers

Is this 5 days per service? Ie bundling cable, cell & internet? Or does a person with only 1 service, who maybe still had access to internet and/or cable get the same amount ….? This is nonsense. Do the right thing.

I still not have internet since Wednesday.

What about users of small providers reliant on Rogers networks. My internet is via acanac and was down too because it is delivered via Rogers lines. How do I get a credit?

Good.

What about all the people that aren't customers but were also effected?

Should be a whole month

Okay Canadians, it was one day without cell service.. anyone over 30 should know better. Get over it and move on, everyone makes mistakes, and all tech is exposed to risks like this.

Today is day 5 and I still do not have full service. I want a credit for EVERY day I have not had satisfactory service.

How about 5 months? Not 5 days!

Big deal !

the CRTC needs to be given authority over the telecom industry in Canada. Authority bring competition to the telecom industry as well as prevent or allow mega mergers. make the telecoms move to fiber optic connections for internet, television, services.

So $10😂

Outage was 2 days or 48 hours and compensation is 5 days or 120 hours. Seems fair!

but it's still not working properly so five days is harrumph!!!

Can we counter-offer?

Rogers - show me da cash - stuff ur 5 day credit - imagine!

Unfortunately 5 days isn’t enough when small business lost thousands of dollars. Rogers needs to reconsider or their customer will take their business elsewhere

Time and a half 😂

Bribery huh? We still need an investigating into the sad state of communications for customers in Canada!

I'll take 'Catastrophic loss of marketshare' for $1000 Alex.

So if your Rogers bill is say $200 a mth. If u divide that by 30 days in a mth x 5 days that is $33.33 credit. Whoopee

Not a Rogers customer but this misses the mark. Their outage was unacceptable. Unfortunately the alternative is the parasitic Bell. We can't win.

showing Russia and China how to hack our systems.... priceless

I don’t need to be reimbursed for anything that i am not owed. I do hope something is done to make sure everyone can access 911 no matter what though.

Rogers embarrassing

That is a total joke.

I had a Rogers Tech at my house in the morning of the Outage. He was telling me Rogers was hacked. So which is it? 'Maintenance' or a cyber attack?

That should not even come close to loss revenue for businesses.

5 days! some people lost thousand$ !

Does anyone think maybe there is not enough diversity in the Canadian wireless market.

Compensation should follow an exponential scale: the longer the downtime, the faster the compensation rate goes up. That will be their incentive to invest against catastrophic failures.

How about non customers forced to pay interest on purchases because interact was down?

$5

tie be

And free tickets for bluejays games, maybe ?
