KUALA LUMPUR: The country’s fiscal position is still strong and the federal government’s debt is still under control, says Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul AzizThe Finance Minister said the government remains highly disciplined and has never failed to pay interest and mature debts despite having gone through a series of economic and financial recession crises.
Tengku Zafrul also said that the government's statutory debt level cannot exceed 65% of gross domestic product , and that the debt level stood at 60.4% of GDP as at the end of June 2022.
Although country has gone through a serious of economic & financial recession crises before, the gvmnt is highly disciplined & has never failed to pay interest and mature debts, the country’s fiscal position is still strong and the Federal government debt is still under control.
