Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese today was put on the spot about whether he will “engage in big reform” to 'tackle a trillion dollar debt'.

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese today was put on the spot about whether he will “engage in big reform” to “tackle a trillion dollar debt”.

Mr Albanese was questioned on the matter by Sky News Political Reporter Kieran Gilbert at the National Press Club on Monday. Mr Clennell said the Prime Minister stuck with saying growing the economy is the way forward to pay off the debt and deficit. “To me this exchange highlights the problem with Australian politics – to get elected, you can’t promise too much reform,” Mr Clennell said.

“Having been elected not to change things much, to get re-elected you feel you are unable to change things too much.”

It’s impossible for him to think without a teleprompter auspol LabourParty ClimateScam australiahasfallen

Never heard mention of the trillion dollar debt from MSM before the election.

So he took an hour out of third holiday to do a presser

Watched AlboMP press club address & it sounds like an election campaign speech. Plenty of talk but few solutions. 100 days in but really what is better. Cost of living & energy crisis still hurting Australians, major health & support services not meeting demands. No ICAC. smh

OMG did someone actually ask Albo a question did he run away crying like the last time that happened hope the handbag got a selfie of that

Can we tell the truth and say trillion dollars of mostly Liberal debt?

There is a lot of politics to go before 2024. More public pressure doesn't hurt and Russell Broadbent just saying to scrap it helps. Just saying.auspol

How about you stop giving 100’s of millions away for a start.

Yeah but when he talks about the LNP’s trillion $$ debt he’s “still in opposition”

AlboMP & JEChalmers cannot be taken seriously if they think it's prudent economic management to take 240 billion out of budget for tax cuts to high incomes. That's 30 billion a year that cannot be spent on Medicare,NDIS,Aged, hospitals & homeless. Obscene & unaffordable. smh

Albo after 100 days - It's all Scott's fault. Albo after 200 days - It's all Scott's fault. Albo after 300 days - It's all at Scott's fault Albo after 400 days - The Party has decided that Penny Wong will take over duties as Prime Minister affective immediately.

Not allowed to ask the loafer Albanese any hard questions. He will likely need another holiday now. 100 days of underachievment.

trillion $debt, yet won't roll back stage 3 tax breaks which will add 15.7 billion to the debt for all Politicians to benefit from these tax breaks!! AlboMP JEChalmers hows the cost of living plan going? anything yet? nottoomanypoorpoliticians!!

No Andrew it is something Albo should already be working towards. Albo and dim wit Jim piss and moan about the covid debt. Yet they are adding to it by giving our money away to overseas countries while ignoring the people that matter most, Australians.

And if I remember correctly the previous government Rudd/Gillard contributed to part of that $1 trillion of debt
