Mortgage rates rose to 6.7%, their highest since 2007, adding pressure on the cooling housing market

The average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage climbed to 6.7%, according to a survey of lenders released Thursday by Freddie Mac . lt was the highest rate since July 2007. A year ago, rates were 3.01%.

It will be interesting to see if this continues to put pressure on actual home PRICES - or just the volume of sales. Some sellers are on strike and refusing to sell if bids don't come in hot. So we could still see a lack of supply (which will help keep a floor under prices).
