In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, voters dismissed a pending California plan for taxpayer-funded reparations and just the very idea of paying today’s ancestors for the practices of America’s founding families. In the survey, 54% opposed reparation schemes such as those being considered in California, St. Louis, Virginia’s Loudoun County, and on Capitol Hill. Some 38% expressed some support, including 60% of Democrats and 66% of black people.
Asked more specifically if they wanted a plan that would require new taxes to cover checks to descendants, 63% were in opposition and 29% in support.Congress has been considering reparations plans for years, though the new GOP House majority will shut down those efforts.
