As the world marks the 2022 International Human Right Day, human rights lawyer and Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law, Dr Monday Ubani, has said he will sue the Federal Government over alleged violation of human rights in the country.

“Those who went to prison, when they come back and tell you how many innocent persons were there and whose fate is undetermined, it is because the cases are not in court, there is no file anywhere concerning their case. So, they just dump them there.

“I heard that in the East, most of these detention centres, including the army detention centres; people are there. They just accuse you of being an IPOB member or another thing and just dump you there. A lot of things are happening in this country that makes us know that we are not in any way meeting the standard of human rights protection,” he said.

The human rights lawyer stated that he would be going to court to ensure that Nigerians were allowed to use their phones in police stations and premises of other security agencies.
