What a joyless world guardian writers live in .

How about for MOTHER Christmas who ACTUALLY does 90% of the shopping cooking wrapping and care taking?

Father Christmas stopped getting the credit when my child started school. For many reasons. We’re comfortably off, others aren’t, I don’t want my child to think they’re better because they receive more presents than their classmates.

My eight year old had the cookies and milk out and excitedly went to bed. My job is to create as much magic in his childhood as possible... He will grow out of it and all I'll have will be these memories, I think that's a fair trade, I don't need the gratitude just the memories

He will do for me

So I take it all the people commenting either didn't read the article or skimmed it and missed all the bits that say she likes Christmas, won't spoil it and mainly just gets fed up that kids conflate all gifts to being from Santa? Who is it that complains about outrage brigades?

Standard negative Guardian fare. How open-minded of you for bashing a Western tradition...again! I can't wait for your negative article at Ramadan, 'fed up of not being able to eat during the day, cos a man told you? Me too. Here's what you can do about it'

If your that desperate for gratification that you can't do something nice for your kids without them heaping praise on you, then you have problems. Also the presents are from santa, not from mum and dad via santa.

Another anti-Christmas rant. This one on Christmas Day. Merry Christmas Guardian readers.

Very selfish of you, let kids have a bit of magic in their lives while they’re young. As they grow up they learn the truth and are grateful

So this must be the obligatory trash Christmas article. You're not the only one doing it. I also you will print the obligatory trash New Years article too.

Yes, on this day we must think of those living in distant dusty lands under a barbarous, evil so called religion where women r violated daily 4 fun & stoned to death! Britain will always be a refuge of Christianity of civilization & humanrights that these savages can aspire to

This is typical for this day and age. Everything has to be about you. Same with social media, selfies, etc. This generation has become very narcissistic.

Merry Christmas!

Typical bah humbug article from The Guardian. Let them believe in magic. You don’t give presents to your kids to get credit from them. If you do then you are a pretty sad individual.

Stuck in an embassy for six years with scheming liars like nipping at your heels It could be worse MerryChristmasJulian ❤️
