Electric Ireland is giving its residential customers a €50 credit in light of the current 'exceptional circumstances' surrounding energy prices

ELECTRIC IRELAND IS giving its residential customers a €50 credit in light of the current “exceptional circumstances” surrounding energy prices.Pay-as-you-go customers will receive the credit this week.Pat Fenlon, the company’s executive director, said: “2022 has been a very challenging year for energy customers, primarily as a result of increases in international gas prices. We are acutely aware of the pressures that customers face this winter.

The increase to the hardship fund, Fenlon said, “will help ensure the fund is accessible to those most in need of support during the Winter months. “We are committed to helping any of our customers who experience financial difficulty. As always, we encourage any Electric Ireland customer who has difficulty in paying their energy bill to engage with us and we will work with them to put a manageable payment plan in place.”The cost for suppliers of buying wholesale electricity has soared, and many customers’ gas and electricity bills have been hiked up this year – sometimes several times – as some of the wholesale price is passed on.

The Commission for Regulation of Utilities has however extended the moratorium on disconnections for non-payment of energy bills, with vulnerable customers unable to be disconnected between October 2022 and March 2023. Lol wow! A whole €50!!!!

In 2023 Electric Ireland were planning on only making €50 profit from me 🤔 Really 😐

Time for BordGais to step up too or I'm switching provider

Is this not anti competitive in relation to EU law?

It's easy to manipulate profits, your ceo can be making millions more than ever before and that's not part of your profit, its a meaningless gesture

50e credit and an extra 300e added to your bill ,sounds like a great deal alright. 🖕

Oh so generous energy overlords

How about putting on a price Cap on Utilities seeing as the Country owns 95% of electric Ireland and we still pay 30% more than the EU average .100s of Millions in profit every Quarter but yeah 50 euro will do absolutely nothing to help the people of Ireland who u rob 4 profit.

Awe really, how kind 😡

Are these prices because of the gas shortages? How about we take the Corrib gas reserves back from Shell, who were gifted our nation’s natural resources to the tune of around 1 Trillion if we are estimating the value of natural gas in today’s market. Why is this gas not ours?

They’d be better reducing the price given the recent drop in gas prices. This is just a sop.

That'll offset so.e of the windfall tax wont it .. clever boys .. look great in doing it too

Would be great if they gave some of that money to someone to answer the their phone

Piss in the wind 👈

Sweetener for upcoming price hike I think

How about just lower the proce they charge for electricity? I can guarantee someone ran the numbers on this ‘gesture’ of theirs and they decided it would cost them fcuk all in the grand scheme of things so it was worth doing for the positive spin it would garner.

50 a whole 50
