Martin Lewis has predicted the exact payment dates for new £301, £300 and £299 cost of living cash lump sums.
More than eight million UK households on low incomes will receive a much-needed fresh cash boost from this spring. The support is for those on eligible means-tested benefits, including people on Universal Credit, Pension Credit and tax credits. The DWP said the £900 payment will be made up of three slightly different amounts, relating to specific qualifying periods, making it simpler to determine if someone has received the correct payments.
In a post on Twitter to his 2.1 million followers, the Good Morning Britain presenter predicts that the first payment of £301 will be made after the new financial year begins on April 6. He then predicted the second for £300 will arrive in October or November and the third for £299 before the tax year ends on April 5, 2024.
The government said that the exact payment windows will be announced closer to the time, adding that payments will be spread to ensure consistent support throughout the year. However, fuel poverty campaigners have argued that support for the most vulnerable people has not increased on what was announced last year.
