Former president Trump warned his party to avoid cuts to Medicare and Social Security, putting him at odds with House Republicans who are pushing for major reductions in the entitlement programs and others in exchange for raising the nation’s debt limit.

Contrary to Trump’s claims, the national deficit grew substantially during his tenure, in part due to tax cuts passed in 2017 at his urging by the Republican-led Congress. In fact, the national debt rose by nearly $7.8 trillion while Trump was in office.

Democrats, including Biden, seized on a plan issued by Sen. Rick Scott that called for requiring all legislation to be renewed every five years — or wiped off the books. Democrats stressed that Social Security and Medicare were created by legislation. During the 2016 campaign, Trump was critical of then-Rep. Paul D. Ryan , the 2012 GOP vice-presidential nominee, for pushing for changes to Medicare and Social Security.Mitt Romney’s loss in the 2012 presidential election on his running mate. Trump said that Romney was hurt by Ryan’s previous calls to change Social Security and other entitlement programs for the elderly.

👏👏👏👏👏 Bravo, the Brand New Trump!

US is the most evil country in the world and both conventional Democratic and Republican leaders are evil and this is why a person like Trump has any chance to become President. People find him bad enough to take on the evil establishment.

He’s going to become a Democrat because there are millions of them “less well educated” as yet untargeted by his griftomobile…

Trump understand these conservatives have no feel for it’s constituents . They need to do the opposite raise the values in those programs and pay for by raising the Medicare tax to total income.

He has a lot nerve calling people out,he’s a loser too me .

These are not entitlement programs. Employees pay into these programs over their work lives. They’ve earned the money. (More than Kevin McCarthy SpeakerMcCarthy “earned” the speakership, that’s for damn sure!)

Reps should consider cutting their own pay first

Nope anotherWP lie!

He’ll take every conceivable position (and some inconceivable ones) on every issue, then claim he was right.

We should cut medicaid before medicare.

Social Security and Medicare are not entitlements

Again, Trump is right

2/2 while still in office. 4 Don’t give each senator or congressman $10,000 (tax free) to install home security.

That’s great, but I would never vote for him or support him. He belongs in jail.

1/2 If republicans want to reduce the debt, there are a couple of other options: 1. Don’t give senators medical coverage for life. 2. Have them on Obamacare like the rest of us, not a separate health care plan. 3. Discontinue their ability to receive their pensions…..

🍇 are sure

How is it entitlement!? Payed our whole lives to this. ! Savings !!

Am I agreeing with tRump!!! 😱

Let's go through and take these able bodied people off welfare instead.

What, Trump actually said something that makes sense? 😂

Bullsht

President Trump is really great. He saw the historical trend that the United States must enter a high-welfare society. He is a worthy leader of the Republican Party and the United States.

Oh for crying out loud!!!! Social Security and Medicare are NOT entitlements. Every working American has paid into both in every single paycheck we’ve ever earned!!!!!!!!

He seems to be saying stuff like that ever since he found out that haircuts are no longer an expendable expense for him.

This isn’t out of the kindness of his heart. He’s worried about his chances of reclaiming the White House being decimated.

The GOP thinks that threatening to crash our retirement investments will force us to agree to reductions in SS and MC. If they refuse to raise the debt ceiling the markets crash. My 401k crashes. I’m 60 and will never make back what I’ll lose. 🤬

I want all my money that i put into the socialSecurity pozyScheme back if it goes under..

I have paid into Medicare and social security for over 50 years. This is not a benefit.

Hey, how about we cut money to ukraine, illegal aliens entitlements instead

I think the better option is to spend this country into insolvency. At least we have a lot guns so when the world economy self implodes we can fight off the hordes who want our resources

Donald Trump welcome to the resistance?!

As DFG tries to get revenge on the GOP for dropping him by throwing them off the train platform onto the 'third rail of American politics': Social Security
