Roughly 1 in 4 millennials say their parents cover their rent, a new poll conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Chartway Credit Union found.

“About three-quarters of those respondents plan to take on these bills themselves within the next two years, but 30 percent admit they will be riding the wave until they’re told otherwise,” according to the report.

But despite enlisting their parents’ financial assistance, 85 percent of those polled say they are responsible with money. Seventy-three percent report opening their first bank account by the time they turned 25 years old, and 21 percent say they had a bank account before they turned 18. Whether they had a bank account or not, 30 percent of respondents say they had their own money to spend by the time they were 15 years old.

Half of adults did say they struggle to tamp down on frivolous spending, and 45 percent say they do not handle unexpected expenses well. Forty-percent say they struggle to pay their bills on time. Those poll struggle less with taxes and keeping a high credit score .

Sad, but likely true. Our young people need to grow up.

The other 3 out of the 4 don’t pay rent at all at Mom & Dad’s.

Great example of why our children are the way they are. Bad move parents

And thats the problrm right there, no responsibility, no bringing up your kids with work ethics. Your enablers.

Muppets; indoctrinated in woke, global warming, the cv19 scam and can’t even look after themselves.

Losers!

God Has Blessed Me With 4 MILLENIALS That All Work 2 Jobs, 2 Are In The Military Reserves & 1 Son Is A Volunteer Firefighter. The Oldest 3 Are Now Homeowners. I Was A Single Mom & My Parents Were Killed Before They Were Born. I Am An RN Lead By Example. Put God First !

Not this parent. Although one Z Generation daughter (21 yo) is living with grandparents, their choice.

Question what are the beginning years of the millennial. I was born in '83 and DO NOT consider myself a millennial. My parents were towards the end of baby boomers'56 &'60. Have heard numerous years but never anything solid oh and my parents dont pay my bills

The Work Hard Ethic Is Decreasing ! Plenty Of Jobs Out There !

Everything millennial do are there parents fault.

That's a huge mistake. Let them understand what it means to support themselves. What happens when mommy and daddy isn't there to fund your lifestyle. As always, never buy anything made in china. Don't ever trust a democrat and NEVER leave your child alone with one.

I told my step-daughter she couldnt afford an apartment, and stopped speaking to me when I wouldnt pay her rent 4 months later, because she couldnt afford the rent.

That's why they have time for antifaand blm riots

Kids are spoiled!

So sad for this generation. 😢

25%, oh well.

Basement dwellers!! Stop enabling your grown ass children.

This is embarrassing. Get a job.

Wow. I closed the bank of mom years ago and all of them are self sufficient.

Therein lies the problem

Why the face panties for this article? 🙄

Sad and pathetic

My kid won't be one of those unless she's in college and gets straight A's

Babies, there are jobs out there. Get them of their butts

For some reason I'm not surprised.

The youngest millennial is 28. I think you’re referring to centennials

It's way more than that. A lot of millennials pay rent to their parents but it is far less than they would be paying if they were on their own, not to mention in many cases this 'rent' includes meals and laundry services. Oh, and things like electricity, heat, and cable tv.

Say what?

The other 3 of 4 still live at home.

Rent is high and so is cost of living. Inflation. I heard that gas may be 4.00 per gallon by April.

Spoiled rotten at all cost. The parents take online college classes for these privileged kids.

So, one in four millennials has really stupid parents...got it.

PAYING NOT TO HAVE YOUR OWN INSUFFERABLELY WOKE CHILDREN POLICING YOU IN YOUR OWN HOMES ...

SNOWFLAKE

The most useless generation ever.

That means they’re useless!!!!! Period

They likely pay for their cell phones too.

Maybe, just maybe people should consider having larger households to try and rebuild generational wealth. I would rather my children stay home and work and save. Our family could live together instead of splitting up and all struggling. Just an idea. I know it’s the norm to move

Wow!

There parents are not helping them. This Country is doomed

..which makes it even harder for all the rest of us !

Through undergrad, that's it.

Mine's covered by my dead grandfather. Am I an outlier, or can I be considered a deadbeat?

When the old ones are gone, they will be like nomads; roaming the world without a moral compass or sense of responsibility.

The other 3 are praying that their student loan is forgiven! This is the future of this country! But they hate America anyway, so might want to learn to speak Mandarin Chinese!

The most pathetic generation ever… until Gen Z showed up

Same 1 in 4 probably add pronouns to their email signatures

Truth

Another poll i saw said 3 out of 4 lie about who pays their rent

And roughly 90% of millennials are using smart phones and phone plans their parents pay for!

That is why they are as useless as they are as a generation. Push the baby bird out of the nest and force them to fly

Not shocking as this was from the “everyone gets a trophy” mindset generation. Those kids think they are adults but IMHO if you need to be taken care of, that is not the case. Being an adult is not simply the number of your age

Not getting any easier out here.

Disgraceful. 'The Helpless Generation'.

Well they can either get inheritance money now or when we are gone! Meanwhile my wife and I enjoy our lives travel and spend. Whatever is left when we are gone they can have it.

THANK JOE !

Certainly the same parents they complain about, blame for everything, & call Boomers aren't financing their lives. Say it ain't so.

anyone else kind of wish they were a millennial?

Wait Millennials? Aren’t they in their 30’s?

losers

Wow. So disturbing.

Watch the drying sponge.

Why not live the parents, everyone save for a down payment for a house? Instead of rent payments, save up a substantial amount to really change circumstance.

Worthless, lost generation

Their a bunch of enabled spoiled rotten brats who cant figure anything out because everytime there is an issue, expect mom and dad to financially bail them out for poor judgement. They have zero problem solving skills and their idea of solving a problem is having mom and dad pay.

Time to cut that cord!

These turds are going to have a tough life.

Must be nice

So the narrative that they live with their parents to help out financially is a lie? Not shocked but if the kids can't pay their rent, they should suffer the consequences. The parents will be out of the picture and the 30, 40, 50 year old will have no idea what to do.

It’s the only way to get them the hell out my house. We are paying for our privacy.

Love them or hate them, america isn’t going to do well when the boomers age out of life

That means those millennials who don’t pay for their own housing are not allowed to vote, correct? 🧐

These are definitely Democrats then. They are the same parents who worried their children wouldn’t get a Participation Trophy. Worry about yourself! The economy is draining your retirement.
