Schumer digs in against debt limit talks with GOP ahead of default deadline

The New York Democrat, speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill just hours after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy re-upped demands that both sides meet at the negotiating table, accused Republicans of “theater” and “hostage-taking” that’s threatening the economy.

Mr. Schumer said the onus is on Mr. McCarthy to propose a detailed budget with desired cuts before meeting with him and President Biden at the White House to hash out a deal.

We're headed for default if we don't rein in spending, and probably even if we do.

Republicans are going to cave. they want to cut Medicare or Medicaid taking away from Americans as they did abortion in the runup to an election. They will cave or have a landslide for Democrats if Biden is against trump landslide anyways.

But of course it’s the Republicans that are creating this budget crisis because they won’t do what the Democrats tell them to do!
