The man accused of killing eight people in a mass shooting at a suburban Dallas shopping mall apparently was discharged from the U.S. Army because of mental health issues, according to an Army official.

According to reports, a shooter opened fire at the outlet mall, killing eight people. The Bates, who were shopping at the mall at the time of the shooting, had returned to retrieve their vehicle from the parking lot.

Federal agents have been reviewing social media accounts that they believe Garcia used, as well as posts that expressed interest in white supremacist and neo-Nazi views, said the official, who could not discuss details of the investigation publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.
