The Holiday Bowl is looking for a new title sponsor after San Diego County Credit Union decided not to continue as the name sponsor for the annual college football bowl game.
SDCCU has been the game’s title sponsor since 2017, following 12 years as title sponsor of the Poinsettia Bowl before it was discontinued. “We’re grateful they were with us for so long,” said Mark Neville, CEO of Sports San Diego, which produces the annual Holiday Bowl. “They’ve been a sponsor of ours since the mid-1990s. They’ve been an amazing partner. There’s no hard feelings at all. We’re super grateful for everything they did for us.”The Holiday Bowl matches teams from the Pac-12 and ACC with guaranteed payouts that last year totaled nearly $6.5 million.
The Holiday Bowl nearly went without a sponsor in 2015 before National Funding stepped in at the 11th hour.“It’s always a challenge securing a name and title sponsor,” Neville said. “It’s an awesome opportunity. At the same time, it’s definitely a challenge to sell. “But we’ve had a lot of success. We’ve been through this many, many times before. ... It works out where we find a great partner that believes in us and we believe in them. Each one that we’ve had has had a great experience with us, and we look forward to working with a new one.”There is more to offer a potential sponsor moving forward.
