Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't the government be going out of its way to encourage self funded retirements
OMGTheMess Dividend Imputation (franking credits) was introduced by ..... PJ Keating. I wonder if we could get a comment from PK about how his compulsory super and associated changes are going in 2019, and beyond.
They want you dependent on the state, that way they can control you.
There is no “free hand out” or “bonus” in franking credits. FC’s are just PAYG for shareholders, and they HAVE paid the tax or there could not be a proposal to NOT GIVE IT BACK. Understand the tax system first.
JazzaBazza_ Gotta redistribute that “wealth” to african fakeugees somehow..
Why is so hard for the average 65 year old person to even get the pension. Paper work is unreal . It’s like they try very hard not to give you the pension
I'm having trouble with the concept of getting outs from tax payers for doing nothing except being rich enough to hold some shares as 'working hard.
Not if your Bill Shorten.
Such a biased news organisation! Disgraceful!
Agree.. All the asset rich retirees have to re-organise their assets to regular income generators. Franking credits cost more than the federal education spend. This is upper class welfare and it is time to let it go.
The right are always banging on about people getting 'Free stuff'. Receiving a tax rebate when you pay no tax is getting free stuff, and taxpayers are footing the bill.
It’s not the labour way.
Rewarded by the taxpayer, when many can/t afford to retire. Ha!
So people who work hard all their lives but can’t afford to self fund their retirement don’t deserve a bonus?
Mediocrity, translated not of merit. If meritocracy works why are there so few women in the LNP? Obviously it doesn't work. The LNP use their meritocracy to feed the greed of the wealthy (banking RC) while privatising Commonwealth assets and cutting payments to those in need.
Rubbish.
I disagree with PeterGleeson63. A big % of self funded retirees would be in the superannuation system. Super has concessional tax treatment on contributions. It's tax free when it's drawn in retirement. Aust is one of only a handful of countries with dividend imputation. TI
Privileged retirees: cash handouts. Nursing homes pensioners: limit of $6 a day on shit food and 4 people to a room.
Presumed authority rejected. Artificial constraints rejected. Not a subordinate.
Genius, PeterGleeson63. Rewarding people by sending them cash just because they ‘worked hard’... what a genius. Funny how it’s always privileged retirees (never called pensioners) seem to be beneficiaries of tax handouts. Not the miserable souls in most nursing homes!
Anyone smart enough to put money away for retirement is smart enough to see through these socialist losers.
billshortenmp Bowenchris A pair of Fools!! Do U realise Div Imp Cr’s occur after 32% tax paid source? Your senseless idea, hits all Super (Yours, Industry funds & like.. everybody’s!), all share investors... MILLIONS!!!
A nation gets dumber and dumber. billshortenmp will see to it.
such histrionics for such a trivial issue - Imputation Franking Credit refund fraud affecting about 0.5% of the population expect a refund for no tax paid. Costello auspol nswpol
LNP Governments don’t protect the poor, sick, elderly or unemployed, and try to screw everyone else. Pick up your game.
Why should money that I earn by my hard work and pay in tax go, via the government, to retired people, to compensate them for tax that they haven’t paid? Makes no sense. It’s not like it’s the government’s money to dish out how they like.
Working hard does not guarantee the ability to retire with wealth - thank God for the ALP who fights for equity for all.
Why do the RWNJs keep calling them 'self-funded' retiree's, but then say they rely on a govt handout (franking credits) to get by? 🤔
Peter who? Was that the intern you had on over summer?
