Increased interest among paying consumers in international brands will force Irish media businesses to rethink their approach to the market

The rise in interest in international media outlets amongst Irish consumers that pay for news should sound alarm bells at all Irish media organisations - this one included.

While the Irish editions of British tabloids have long had a strong base here, the premium end of the newspaper market was generally made up of native brands, augmented by international correspondents and wire services.
