A"cybersecurity incident" stretches into its third day at Suncore, the parent company of Petro-Canada, causing the company to suspend electronic payment at numerous gas stations..after customers couldn't log into Petro-Points from the app, and the website became temporarily unavailable.
So far, there is no evidence that customer, supplier or employee data has been breached or compromised, said Suncore. Suncore, the Calgary-based oil sands development and petroleum refining company, is just the latest in a growing list of Canadian businesses that have seen their services truncated amidst a spate of cyber-attack in the last year.
The crown corporation said customers who purchased products through the store’s online platform between Jan. 5 and Jan. 10 may have their data breached. The corporation’s website was fully restored on Jan. 15, with enhanced security features, after being intentionally disabled to contain the cybersecurity incident. The bookstore’s website server and in-store electronic payment system went down in early February after a ransomware attack that began in early February and lasted into March.
