The former head of the Human Services Department resigned from her job as an adviser on AUKUS last week, the Defence Department has confirmed.

Senior public servant Kathryn Campbell has resigned from her $900,000 a year Defence Department job after the robo-debt royal commission savaged her reputation.

Ms Campbell resigned from her job as a senior adviser on the AUKUS agreement on Friday, the department said in a short statement. Kathryn Campbell, the secretary who developed and rolled out the robo-debt scheme, has resigned from her highly-paid government job.“Defence can confirm it has accepted Ms Kathryn Campbell’s resignation from the department with effect from Friday 21 July 2023,” the statement said.
