UniversalCredit to blame for soaring food bank use” Here’s the thing. UC is based on the idea that work shd “pay” ie claimants shd be poorer to encourage work. Except Finland now shows (higher) basic income does not lead to reduction in paid employment

The Vicious Vindictive Austerity programme of the Government is to blame Revoke/Remain/Investigate

But doing nothing to change it. Making it easier to ask for advance payments doesn’t help, the 6 week gap from claim to receipt needs to be removed. Sanctioning needs to stop.

That's just a small part of the problem that also includes people on zero hour contracts , child benefit changes , minimum wage not keeping up with the cost of living.

No shit.
