Court testimony by a state witness has linked Kelly Khumalo to one of the accused in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.
The first time was on the August 2 2014 and again on October 15 2014, days before the soccer star was murdered. A few days after that development in court, organisers of the Tribute To Women concert, at which Kelly was set to perform, issued a statement confirming they were removing her from the line-up.“We have noted, with concern, comments on social media platforms and calls from many patrons of our festival. We respect the legal processes and wish to indicate Ms Kelly Khumalo is innocent until proven otherwise.
“However, in the interest of safeguarding our festival, management has taken the decision to relieve Ms Khumalo of her obligations to perform at our festival this year to afford her and her team the time they require to deal with the issues emanating from the current court proceedingsKelly, who recently welcomed her third child, has been scarce on social media since the trial began anew after a new judge took over proceedings.
