Quinte West City Council approved a loan extension to the Kiwanis Club at its council meeting on Wednesday.
The interest-free loan was given to the club back in 2020 for the Kiwanis Walleye World fishing derby. In a letter to council, the club was able to pay of $10,000 of the $32,000 loan but still owes the city $22,000. The derby returned for 2023 but the club said that a three year hiatus, increased cost of fuel and an increased cost of living led to low registered participants this year.
