BigPay has announced a couple of significant changes to its policies that is set to take place soon. Starting from

30 August 2023, the company will be adding two additional fees for certain transactions that will affect top-ups and the usage of its services while travelling.

The first fee is an additional charge of 0.5% on overseas transations, either online or in-person, made using your physical or virtual BigPay card in Malaysian Ringgit. It includes online purchases with foreign companies such as paying for Google services, Facebook ads, and even YouTube Premium. This is on top of the usual 1% fee charged by the payment network.

Another change is an additional charge when topping up using a credit card. Currently, BigPay users can reload up to RM1000 per month without any fees, but starting from 30 August, the platform will charge 1% for top-ups using Malaysian-issued credit cards and 3% for cards issued by overseas banks. Of course, you can avoid this fee by instead reloading using DuitNow.
