Manchester United should be strengthening their attacking options with the time they've got left in the transfer window, not weakening them further.
The 21-year-old has made just 12 competitive appearances for United, averaging 12.3 minutes per game. That is nowhere near enough time to really gauge how good a player can be and it's becoming baffling how he hasn't been given more chances. Alejandro Garnacho is clearly the brighter talent but he has yet to make the same impact he does off the bench when starting games but continues to get them.
Poor planning in the striker search means Marcus Rashford is once again being relied upon to lead the line even though it's clearly a position he doesn't favour. Garnacho can be cut slack thanks to his age and eagerness to try things but no such leniency can be afforded to Antony. It's not to say Pellistri is the answer and should be starting every game. Erik ten Hag clearly has faith in Antony and there has to be hope he realises his potential. But Pellistri offers a direct and exciting alternative, a player who brings urgency to attack and doesn't mess about with meaningless skill.
