Universal Credit, PIP, ESA and other Department for Work and Pensions benefits are being paid early today for some due to the August bank holiday.
If you would normally receive a benefit payment this Monday , then you should have been paid today instead. This is because the DWP and HM Revenue and Customs doesn't make benefit payments on bank holidays. As was the case back in May, which saw three bank holidays within a month, Jobcentres and phone lines will be closed during the bank holiday which is the last one until Christmas. To ensure you don't lose out on your money, the DWP and HMRC have arranged early payments. The DWP said: "On Monday, August 28 offices and phone lines are closed. To make sure people get their payment on a day when Jobcentre Plus offices are open, some payments will be paid early.
"To align with the bank holiday in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, DWP offices and phone lines in Scotland will also be closed on Monday, August 28."If your benefit is not listed above, there will be no change to your payment date. If you are due to receive your money on any date other than Monday, August 28 you will get it on the usual date.
While the changes mean you will not miss out on extra money and will get it early ahead of the weekend, it also means you will have to wait slightly longer for your next payment.
