Football Insider has been told by sources that Middlesbrough striker Josh Coburn has agreed to join Plymouth Argyle on loan.

Middlesbrough striker Josh Coburn has agreed a loan move to Plymouth Argyle,The 20-year-old is highly regarded at Boro and signed a new long-term deal at the Riverside earlier this summer.

Coburn spent last season on loan at Bristol Rovers, scoring 10 goals for Joey Barton’s Rovers, in a total of 40 appearances in all competitions, and was named the club’s young player of the year. A number of clubs have made enquiries about taking Coburn on loan, but Plymouth have moved quickly to agree a deal to bring him to Home Park.joined Middlesbrough’s youth set up from Sunderland’s academy in 2018 and made the step up to the senior side in 2021.Since then, the forward has made 28 first team appearances across all competitions for a total of just over 700 minutes of playing time and has netted six goals in those outings.

Plymouth have already lost Niall Ennis Luke Jephcott from the front line this summer joining Blackburn Rovers and St Johnstone respectively with both players leaving on free transfers.Jephcott featured 36 times in the 2022-23 season, netting seven goals and offering up one assist in those outings. Plymouth have won one of their three Championship games so far this season and face Birmingham City in their next test on Saturday .
