Liverpool striker Katie Stengel is set to leave the club and complete a permanent move to National Women's Soccer League side NJ/NY Gotham.
Stengel's loan move came to an end on September 3, however the ECHO understands Gotham are now in the process of making the switch permanent. The striker joined Liverpool in January 2022 and scored nine goals as Matt Beard's side won the FA Women's Championship. While Stengel has been an integral part of Matt Beard's squad over the past two seasons, she is set to leave the club on good terms, with a desire to return to her native USA believed to be one the key reasons behind the move. Liverpool only deigned to sanction the move once they had secured an adequate replacement, with the arrival of Sophie Roman Haug from AS Roma last week allowing Stengel to seek pastures new.
