A woman who was told she was the winner of a competition for a house in Nottingham's Park Estate said she was left"heartbroken" after receiving £5,000 instead.

One of the terms and conditions of the competition listed on the website said that if £2.5m in net sales are not reached, the winner will receive 50% of the net proceeds. But now, both the website and all social media for Win My Home have since been taken down, although it is not clear the reason for this. Sky News has contacted the company and it did not say if it would be operating any future draws.

Conservative ministers have stuck to the policy in every election manifesto, not least because pensioners turn out to vote. The problem is that it is becoming increasingly unaffordable as working-age people will have to bear the cost of an ageing population's benefits on their taxes.
