Ortom’s sacrifices and forthright defence of the interest of the people through the Anti Open Grazing Law to stem ceaseless killings in the state.The MBF was of the view that a second term for Governor Ortom would ensure the sustenance of the momentum and invariably serve the interest of the people of the state better.
President of MBF, Dr Pogu Bitrus who made the position known in Makurdi said the forum came to the conclusion after a holistic assessment of the performance of the Governor in his close to four years of being in the saddle. Dr Bitrus said, “we have assessed the performance of the Governor of Benue state Mr Samuel Ortom and have concluded that he has met the purpose of government by providing security and welfare to our people.“He has stood firm in defending the interest of our people through the anti-open grazing law and risked all assault on his person and office from the federal government in defence of the peoples of Benue state, their lands and pride.
“Governor Ortom is a true Middle Belter and deserves our support. We call on the good people of Benue state to vote Ortom on March 9 to ensure the protection of our lands and restoration of our dignity and pride as a people.” He urged the people of the state to turn out en masse to exercise their franchise and by so doing enthrone a government that had prioritized the collective safety and wellbeing of the people as being championed by the incumbent Governor.
