Nightwing #106 by Tom Taylor, Stephen Byrne, Adriano Lucas, and Wes Abbott begins with a flashback to Nightwing's time as Ric Grayson — a period after Dick loses his memory and sense of self — which includes an appearance from Ric's old love interest, Bea. Ric is given a strange package meant for Dick, and, wanting to neither take nor lose the package, Ric gives it to the mysterious character the Quartermaster in case Nightwing ever returns.
Bea's reintroduction into Nightwing's story raises a number of questions — including whether his and Batgirl's relationship will survive Bea's new role in the story.Nightwing Has Reunited with Ric Grayson's Former Flame The Ric Grayson saga began when Nightwing was shot in the head by the KGBeast. Though Nightwing recovered from his head wound, the incident caused him to lose his memory for a time.
Though Bea is the one who introduced Ric to the Quartermaster in the first place, her history with the mysterious figure remains ambiguous at best. It is likewise unclear how Bea transformed herself from political activist and bar owner to Captain Blüd — and whether this transformation took place before or after her relationship with Nightwing. Captain Blüd may have saved Nightwing from a fire fight, but the two are far from being on good terms.
What Does Captain Blüd's Presence Mean for Nightwing's Future? Between the couple's rocky history and Nightwing's devoted relationship with Batgirl, Bea's reemergence surely won't become anything more than the pair reconnecting. It does, however, give Nightwing a chance to mend fences after their shockingly brutal breakup. Whatever adventure the two find themselves on following the Quartermaster's death can't leave them in a worse place than before.
